History
The Department of Tamil was started in the year 1989 with the language students and 2002 registered for major 37. The Department strength is improving to Research department. Now it attained the strength of UG 102 and PG 25 M.Phil 11 Ph.D 4 (142). The department is equipped with qualified faculty members and well infrastructure. The department has produced PG 10 & UG 7 University ranks so far
